I'm thinking about getting an engineering degree just so I can join the Air Force and fly jets.
I know you don't have to be a Tech grad but I understand that it really makes a difference in candidacy.
Anyway I keep looking at the Air Force web pages and hovering over the "join" link.

Re: I want to fly so bad
Thu, November 5, 2009 - 3:41 PMI am not sure how much having a tech degree makes in getting a pilot slot. Plenty of pilots do not have engineering degrees anyways. Any engineering is much much harder than a lot of degrees too, you could struggle to get a 2.5 in Aero Engineering, but easily easily get a 3.3 in something like history, and GPA is weighted.
However, what you should really consider is joining an Air National Guard unit and applying to be a pilot, even enlisting first then applying. ANG pilots seem to enjoy their job a lot more then regular active duty.
